While some acne remedies work, many don't. When buying an over the counter remedy, be on your guard. Lots of the acne products on the shelves today have harsh components that can really dry out your skin, and could even make your acne worse. Prevention will definitely help you avoid acne in the first place. The best way to avoid acne is to take good care of yourself. A simple, diet without much fat that includes plenty of fresh fruits, vegetables and whole grains will help keep your skin free of zits. Dark green leafy vegetables, like broccoli, are strong acne fighters. You should also drink plenty of fresh water to keep your body hydrated. Getting enough sleep is another known beauty secret. Doctors recommend approximately seven hours of sleep a night.
One final thing, proper washing of your skin is necessary for keeping it clear. Take time to cleanse your skin every day. If you wear cosmetics, remove it each nightbefore retiring. When you wash your skin, use a cleanser that is gentle and be sure that the water is not too hot. Don’t over cleanse or scrub because that can make your acne worse. Rinse completely and blot dry with a clean towel. When you take the steps to prevent acne, you won’t have to hide those blemishes.
