Phillip Hill was telling me about the great fly fishing on the Judith River. Phillip is an alumnus of Skyview High School, Billings, so he's been around a long time.
We had KMZK - 1240 on in the background and were having a good conversation. That's when it hit me. I should let you all know about the great stuff to see in Montana.
There is so much to do while traveling in this state that I scarcely know where to begin.
There are the awesome white slopes in the winter where you can go snowboarding or even heli-skiing. Then there is the peaceful wilderness -- a place of solitude where you can enjoy nature or climb it!
There are great cliff climbing spots in Montana. And if you really enjoy kayaking there are plenty of white water rafting spots and even some great canoeing places.
You will really enjoy the things of the past such as the dinosaur trail. This tour consists of fifteen stops where you can see where they dug up dinos. Then of course, there is the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail Interpretive Center. Of course what would a trip be without a visit to the local museum? An excellent choice would be the Moss Mansion Museum.
Here is a short list of places I would suggest going --
Natural Wonders:
Yellowstone Country
Bighorn Canyon
Glacier National Park
Whitefish Lake State Park
Historic Highlights:
Yellowstone historic center
Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail Interpretive Center
Fifteen stop Dino Dig Tour
Crazy Mountain Museum
Museum of the Rockies
American Computer Museum
While you are at it, you should consider taking in some of the many ghost towns like Bean or Pioneer, Powell County.
There are also many registered historic places that are real unknown gems. Here are a few that are worth your considerations: Canyon Creek Charcoal Kilns in Beaverhead County, Torgrimson Place in Stillwater County, Rankin Ranch Broadwater County and Union Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church Cascade County.
